Online nowOverview
The Manaslu Luxury Trek is our most comfortable way to walk the full Manaslu Circuit around Mt. Manaslu (8,163 m), the world’s eighth-highest peak. Over 16 days you get a 5-star hotel in Kathmandu, private jeep transfers, the best available lodges on the trail, all meals and your own porter.
You follow the same classic route as our Manaslu Circuit Trek: up the Budhi Gandaki valley from Soti Khola through Jagat, Namrung, Lho and Sama Gaun, over Larkya La Pass at 5,106 m, and down to Bhimthang and Dharapani. The difference is the comfort, the pace and the extra support around you.
Be clear on one thing before you book: there are no 5-star hotels on the Manaslu trail. Comfort here means the best rooms in each village, attached bathrooms where they exist, unlimited hot drinks, fresh fruit and a team that carries the load. The lodge at Dharmasala, the night before the pass, stays basic for everyone.
Manaslu is a restricted area, so every trekker needs a licensed guide and special permits, which we arrange. If you want an even faster exit, ask about the Manaslu Circuit Trek on a Heli.
This Manaslu luxury trek covers the full circuit in 16 days with the comfort turned up. We look after the permits, a licensed guide, a porter for every guest, private jeeps, all meals on the trek and three nights in a 5-star Kathmandu hotel.
What Is the Manaslu Luxury Trek?

Altitude and Acclimatization on the Manaslu Luxury Trek
You sleep above 3,000 m for six nights: Lho, Sama Gaun (two nights), Samdo, Dharmasala and Bhimthang. The rest day at Sama Gaun is your main acclimatization stop. Use it for a gentle hike to Pungyen Gompa or Birendra Tal and sleep low again.
Having a porter does not change the altitude. Comfort helps you rest and eat well, which supports acclimatization, but the same rules apply to everyone: go slow, drink plenty and tell your guide early if you feel unwell.
Watch for these signs of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS): headache, nausea, dizziness and loss of appetite. Mild symptoms often ease with rest and water. Worsening symptoms mean going down. Your guide checks on you each evening and adjusts the plan if needed.
How Difficult Is the Manaslu Luxury Trek?
It is moderate to challenging. The comfort is real, but the trail is the same. You need no climbing skills, but you do need stamina. Walking days run from 4 to 8 hours.
- Hardest day: Day 13, from Dharmasala over Larkya La to Bhimthang. You start before dawn and descend a long way.
- Easier with a porter: carrying only a daypack makes long climbs and steep descents noticeably easier on your knees and back.
- Best preparation: two to three months of long hikes with a daypack, stair climbing and leg strength work. Break in your boots before you fly.
- Talk to your doctor first if you have a heart, lung or blood pressure condition, or any condition that high altitude can make worse.
Culture on the Manaslu Circuit
The lower valleys are home to Gurung, Magar and other hill communities, with a mix of Hindu and Buddhist faith. From Namrung onward, villages follow Tibetan Buddhism, with monasteries, prayer wheels and long mani walls. The route was once part of the salt-trade path between Nepal and Tibet, and Dharmasala below the pass was a market called Larke Bazaar.

Best Time to Trek
| Season | Months | What to expect | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|
| Autumn | September to November | Clear skies, cold mornings, short days | Best overall |
| Spring | March to May | Rhododendrons in bloom, longer days, afternoon cloud | Second best |
| Winter | December to February | Very cold, few trekkers, many lodges closed, pass can close | Not recommended for a comfort-focused trip |
| Monsoon | June to August | Heavy rain, landslide risk, roads can close | Not recommended |
- Autumn: sunny days are the norm, but it gets dark early. Mornings and evenings are cold, and light snow is possible above 3,000 m. The best lodges fill up first, so book early.
- Spring: longer days help on the pass. Expect cold mornings, afternoon cloud and wind, and some rain lower down by late May.
- Winter: many of the better lodges close and heavy snow can shut Larkya La.
- Monsoon: trails get muddy and the jeep roads to Soti Khola and from Dharapani may close.

Above Samdo: Lodges around Dharmasala (Larke Phedi) are basic for everyone, with shared toilets. It is one night, and your hot water bag and own sheets help.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner on the trek are included, with mineral water, unlimited tea and coffee, and seasonal fruit. Bigger stops such as Jagat, Namrung, Sama Gaun and Dharapani have the widest menus.
Extras: Hot showers, charging and Wi-Fi cost a small fee at most lodges. Alcohol and other drinks are not included. Carry Nepali rupees, as there are very few ATMs on the trail.
Safety & Guide Information
Guides: Your guide is licensed and government registered, trained in altitude awareness and basic medical response, and knows the trail, the lodges and the villages. English-speaking guides are standard.
Porters: Every guest has their own porter. Porters carry your main bag, so please keep it to a sensible weight. Their food, lodging, pay, equipment and accident insurance are included.
Emergencies: If someone has serious AMS, an injury or an illness, we organize a descent to a safe altitude. If needed, we arrange a helicopter evacuation to Kathmandu. Evacuation costs are your responsibility, so travel insurance with helicopter evacuation cover is essential. Make sure it covers you up to at least 5,200 m.
Communication: We include a local SIM card with 16 GB of data. Coverage exists along much of the route but drops in deep valleys and bad weather.
Seasons to avoid: Heavy monsoon rain from June to August brings landslides and road closures in the lower Budhi Gandaki valley. Snow can close Larkya La from late November, so we advise against crossing it after mid-November.
