Teahouse Trek
The teahouse trek is the classic — and most popular — way to experience trekking in Nepal. Rather than camping, you walk from village to village each day, staying overnight in locally-run lodges known as teahouses. Each stop offers a warm bed, hearty home-cooked meals, and a chance to sit by the fire and swap stories with fellow trekkers and local hosts.
Because you’re not carrying camping gear or relying on a support crew to set up a camp each night, teahouse trekking is lighter, more social, and often more affordable than a fully-camped expedition. It’s also one of the best ways to experience Himalayan culture up close — many of the lodges are family-run, and the trail itself passes directly through the daily life of mountain villages.
This is the standard format for our Manaslu Circuit Trek and most classic Nepal trekking routes, and it’s well suited to first-time trekkers as well as experienced hikers who’d rather travel light. Trail infrastructure has improved significantly over the past decade, so even in more remote regions like Manaslu, you can expect a hot meal, a hot shower (often for a small fee), and a roof over your head at the end of each trekking day.
Best for: Trekkers who want cultural immersion, don’t want to carry or manage camping gear, and are looking for a more social trail experience.
